digital vs. offset.
Offset printing is where the inked image is transferred (or "offset") from a plate onto a rubber blanket and then to the paper.
The main advantage of offset printing is the consistent high image quality on short and long run projects. Long run projects are more cost effective on the press.
Digital printing is a plate-less system that actually forms a thin layer of the toner on the surface of the paper rather than permeate as it does in offset printing. The advantage of digital printing is the cost for a short run project. Also, with digital printing you can print variable information from print to print.
